I didn’t quite get it so I had to do some edits. I hope that they help other people who were confused! Though, these are obviously a LiveJournaler’s edits, so there may be some bias :’(
TL;DR: What we have here is failure to communicate.
I just realized the meaning of the schism between one half of Type-Moon fandom and the other half of Type-Moon fandom! It’s probably primarily down
gender basic human decency lines, but it’s deeper than that. We are looking something far more basic and tribal than boys and girls reductive gender stereotypes.
We’re talking 4chan vs
Looking around at what the general attitude is with you guys, I realized what’s up. Type-Moon fandom began on 4chan. That’s not a point in its favor or anything, it simply is. On 4chan, they refer to each other through
epithets sexist and offensive insults. That’s what they do. It’s a[n immature] boy thing, really, they call each other fagass buttmunching dorkfaces all the time and that’s totally normal for them [and why none of them can get laid]. Newfag is not an insult to them, it’s a label. It is what you are. Either you cop to it or you grow out of it [or you don’t bend to the might and glory that is the male majesty of 4chan].
And yes, they will make fun of you for being a newfag. They will also make fun of you for being an oldfag. Or a eurofag. Or whatever. It’s 4chan, it’s their culture [so obviously it is ok, you’re probably a girl if your feelings are hurt by being degraded].
Then look at
LiveJournal ONTD. LJ is not chiefly a message board, despite the community thing. It’s a blogging center. LJ has always been about feelings and thoughts and things like that. Communities are ways to commiserate and communicate and feel and think and such with each other. This is how it gave rise to so much RP.
I’ve seen internet RP, I’ve done internet RP. I was one of you. I understand how it works. [Luckily I’ve become better than that] You make drama, they make drama, it’s all one big dramafest and the fun is working out the tangles together. Everyone says they “don’t like drama” but that’s not true. The drama is the fun. It just needs to stay in its proper place (hopefully between characters).
So the girls (let’s call you girls and them boys
just to keep things simple [because reductive gender labels make me seem smarter and better informed]) of LJ communicate through sharing stories and giggling over cute things and (somewhat bizarrely) drawing pictures of pretty men screwing each other. [Nobody likes porn or cute things or sharing, the internet is for masculine domination, obviously] The boys of 4chan communicate through epithets insults and talking strategy and powerlevels cock sizes and debating the finer points mostly useless points of Could Saber Take Gilgamesh in a Fight if Gilgamesh Was Restricted to Using Only His Feet and suchforth. [As a note, this isn’t fight porn because that would be too much like girls LiveJournal ONTD, this is serious fucking murder business.]
You both love the series, but you love it for very different reasons and in very different ways. You’re trying to talk to each other but the culture barrier is vast, so you both assume you’re the only right ones. [And I am obviously the only right one.]
So if a 4chan boy talks about a girl in the 4chan way (loving insults) and the LJ girls see it in the LJ way, you’re going to see some issues. [So
girls LiveJournalers ONTDers people with feelings and intelligence should gtfo my fandom because a small fandom about cocks is better than a larger fandom with varied interests that include porn and narrative discussion. ]
